Dear Ambassador,

My name is Mohamud Duale Kahie. I am the designated representative of Galmudug State of North America, both the United States and Canada. On behalf of galmudug state communities across United States and Canada, Its great pleasure and privilege for me to welcome Ambassador Tamik Tan and his delegation with respect and open heart. Mr. Ambassador I’m honored to welcome you today to Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is a resident to one of the largest community in the United States.

I cannot express in words the appreciation and gratitude that the Somali people, both back home and around the world, have for you, for your government and for your people.  The Turkish government not only offered us humanitarian assistance, but it took care of our sick and treated us with dignity and humanity. It also opened the doors of opportunity to our people and our country. It restored our dignity, our lives, our hopes and above all our name and honor. When the world turned its back on us, your government came to our rescue and showed us that there are still people who care about us in the world.

As a Chinese saying goes, when you drink water, don’t forget those who dug the well. We will always cherish the memories of saving human suffering, food assistance, medical mobile, food donations, restoring schools, rebuilding hospitals, and the great hand of generosity that both Turkish government and Turkish people offered to needy and helpless Somali people.  After so many years of living in war and famine and the world and international community forgot about us your government gave food, medicine, and education to our people.

Up to today tears come to my eyes when I remember the picture of your Prime Minister Erdogan, along his wife and children walked through the streets of the most dangerous city in the world, visited our refugee camps, embraced our people with love and care, especially our children. We will never forget when your government and your people took us to their country and give education to our children.

Thanks to your assistance, support and humanitarian work, today Mogadishu is a place where NGO’s and humanitarian assistance is in abundance. The Somali diaspora went back home to work and take care of their own people. This would never have happened if your government didn’t go there first and show the world that if there is a genuine intent everyone can go to Somalia to offer their help.

Although the level and the magnitude of your aid in Somalia was enormous and acceptable, but I would like to remind you Mr. Ambassador that the Turkish aid Caravan did not land or even set its foot yet into Galmudug state regions while the need of galmudug state is in dire situation.

Mr. Ambassador we are asking your help to convey our messages to your government that the people of galmudug state are still waiting Turkish humanitarian assistance and the glimmer of hope that you offered to the people of Mogadishu, North Galkacayo and Garowe.

Finally let me say to you that your government done so much in reversing the famine, in saving lives and created so many jobs, but now is the time to sail your mission to the forgotten and neglected states such as galmudug state who is crying for help to host a Turkish investors to contract Building and Management of the historic seaport and international Airport of Hobyo city. Building a seaport in Hobyo city will generate a lot of revenue due to strategic and geographical location of the city. Kheyrqabe region (Ex. Hobyo region), has thriving fishery opportunities, commercial livestock exportation and Hobyo region is expected to benefit from planned oil drilling activities.
